Dutchess BOCES P-Tech ignites student interest

These pioneers are the first cohort to enter the program, which will allow them to earn their high school diploma and an applied associate degree in electrical technology in just four years.“I find electrical technology interesting because tech is part of our everyday lives. It’s so fascinating how something so small can be so complex and have so many functions,” shared Camila Juarez from the Poughkeepsie City School District. “I know that if I put in the effort in this program, I will be able to have a better future.

Salt Point Center’s Extended School Year (ESY) program closed out the summer with its annual ESY
Student Showcase on August 15 where students proudly showed off what they learned through project displays and performances.

New food service members bring more to table

This summer, Dutchess BOCES Food Services began offering catering services for events held in the conference center and on campus. This is thanks to an expansion in staff throughout the 2023-2024 school year.


Extended School Year supports students throughout summer months

Salt Point Center is buzzing with activity even during the summer with the Extended School Year Program (ESY) running from early July to mid-August. 
This half-day program focuses on practicing skills learned during the school year and helps students avoid learning loss or regression over the summer according to SPC Assistant Principal Duane Sharrock. 


SPC’s Field Day is fun for all

Students and teachers at Salt Point Center (SPC) came together June 11 for Field Day where they tossed rings, raced in potato sacks and played a version of tic tac toe, involving dropping dolls in buckets of water.
