Students at Dutchess BOCES’ Salt Point Center (SPC) are spending their Fridays learning about how to live a healthy, active lifestyle.

Dutchess BOCES is welcoming Officer Seth Thomas as a new school resource officer for the 2022-2023 school year.  Thomas hopes to serve as a role model for students, while keeping the campus safe.

The first day of school, for our Alternative High School students ONLY, is changed to Thursday, September 8, 2022. All BOCES Staff will return on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 as previously scheduled.

Dutchess BOCES’ Office of Human Resources welcomed approximately 65 new employees during an in-person orientation on August 25, which is held every year during Administration Week so new and current staff can meet.

 A vertical milling machine, formerly used by Rensselear Polytechnic Institute, is the latest cutting edge technology to be added to the Career and Technical Institute.

While construction crews are working on completing the structure for Dutchess BOCES new campus, BOCES’ IT department is hard at work inside the building so that once construction crews finish they’ll be able to install phones, computers, and wireless access points in the classrooms and offices.

As the old saying goes, many hands make light work and that is proving to be true when it comes to taking care of 11 chickens residing in coops at Dutchess BOCES’ Career and Technical Institute.

While many Dutchess BOCES students are off for the summer, the Business and Payroll offices have kept busy switching to a new payroll schedule and getting everything prepared for the upcoming school year.

Dutchess BOCES’ Career & Technical Institute’s Middle School Summer CTI Experience returned this year during the week of July 25 following a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Project Manager Tom Chesser, from The Palombo Group, and Brian Mangan from K, G & D Architects updated the Dutchess BOCES Board of Trustees on the progress of the capital project during its July 6 meeting.

New York State Senator Sue Serino honored local teachers with “A+ Teacher”awards in June, including five Dutchess BOCES teachers.

Thirty-five students from the Alternative High School and In-District Program graduated June 22^nd  during a ceremony that honored their perseverance and resilience.

Family, friends, and Dutchess BOCES staff celebrated the 19 eighth grade students who completed their studies at the Salt Point Center with a touching ceremony June 14.

Nothing can stop the more than 200 seniors celebrated at the Dutchess BOCES’ Career & Technical Institute annual recognition ceremony on June 11.
