Nothing can stop the more than 200 seniors celebrated at the Dutchess BOCES’ Career & Technical Institute annual recognition ceremony on June 11.

One hundred and six students from the Newburgh and Poughkeepsie City School Districts had a chance to present their well-researched projects on everything from the cleanliness of Newburgh’s drinking water to gender roles at Dutchess BOCES’ Transformative Classroom Youth Conference on May 25.

Thirty five exceptional students at Dutchess BOCES’ Career & Technical Institute were given more than $7,000 worth of awards generously supplied by community partners and businesses at the annual CTI Awards Ceremony on June 1.

All Dutchess County school districts celebrated high school students on Wednesday at the Dutchess BOCES Honor Student Breakfast held at the Pavilion at Brookmeade in Rhinebeck, N.Y.  County Executive Marc Molinaro joined superintendents and board members to salute the students and wish them well.

Rosa Celaya-Luis, a graphic design student at Dutchess BOCES’ Career and Technical Institute, is ending her high school career on a high note after completing a three-month internship with Rhinebeck Bank where she helped with a crucial project.

Three students in Dutchess BOCES’ Plant & Animal Science program scored high in the Future Farmers of America Agriscience Fair competition held May 12-14 in Syracuse.

For the first time since December, the Dutchess County Department of Behavioral & Community Health (DBCH) has issued a Public Health Alert regarding COVID-19 cases.  The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has now classified the Hudson Valley as a “High Transmission” area.

The National Technical Honor Society added 60 students from Dutchess BOCES’ Career & Technical Institute to its ranks during a ceremony on May 5.

April has been a busy month for the students and staff at the Salt Point Center (SPC), where learning about the environment in honor of Earth Day and Arbor Day has taken center stage.

Nine students from Dutchess BOCES’ Career Technical Institute are ready to compete at the New York State SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Championship in Syracuse from April 27 to 29. CTI Principal Nick Millas will join the students to show his support.

Five Dutchess BOCES students were honored for their hard work by the Poughkeepsie-Arlington Rotary during the virtual Student of the Month Ceremony on March 10. The Rotary hosts the ceremony several times a year and has continued to do so virtually during COVID, pausing the usual luncheon.

Students from BOCES’ Alternative High School were welcomed at the Career & Technical Institute and Salt Point Center on April 20, settling into temporary spaces as plans for transitioning to a new high school at the Salt Point campus are finalized.

Ukraine has been in the hearts and minds of everyone at Dutchess BOCES’ Salt Point Center. In mid-March, staff collected desperately needed supplies such as flashlights, diapers, deodorant and first aid kits for the Ukrainian people.

Dutchess BOCES’ Adult Learning Institute is now an official General Educational Development, or GED, testing center. It is the first in New York State to get through the entire process with Pearson VUE, a highly accredited testing center, and be activated for this type of testing.
