Dutchess BOCES’ new “One Campus” is what the future of education in New York State is all about. The completion of the project was celebrated April 15 with a ribbon cutting, EXPO and open houses. 

Jack Breen, a leader with decades of special and alternative education experience, is now the new acting principal of the Dutchess BOCES Alternative High School.
“I’m passionate about working with youngsters who need support. It is what I am and how I feel,” said the seasoned education veteran.

Salt Point Center received a donation of 20 used volleyballs from Downstate Juniors Volleyball Club that will be used in gym classes and in the center’s positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) volleyball activity.

Students in Dutchess BOCES’ Cosmetology program at the Career & Technical Institute got firsthand knowledge of how to be an effective and courteous hairdresser from an industry pro on March 20.

Nine informational technology directors from across the county’s districts came to Dutchess recently for a demonstration of a fun activity that outkicks the competition.

Students in Dutchess BOCES’ Early Childhood Education program put what they are learning in class into action in early March by reading to students at Salt Point Center as part of National Read Across America Day.

Second year students in Dutchess BOCES’ Cosmetology program at the Career & Technical Institute learned the tricks of the trade and bought supplies to use in class at the International Beauty Show, or IBS, on March 7.

Superintendent’s Conference Day was filled with opportunities for staff to develop different strategies and skills to use in working with students.
The conference featured schedules for Salt Point Center, Career & Technical Institute, Alternative High School, building nurses, in-district instructors and related services.

A local animal shelter was recently gifted four custom built dog houses to provide shelter for puppies and dogs who have been adopted.  The houses were built by students at the Dutchess BOCES Career and Technical Institute (CTI).

Career & Technical Institute students have been getting introduced in recent weeks to zSpace as part of their curriculum in class.

Forty-one jumpers representing a team from Dutchess BOCES raised more than $8,000 for Special Olympics New York at the Fishkill Polar Plunge at Sharpe Reservation in Fishkill on Feb. 18.

Salt Point Center students raised money to bring awareness to heart disease and help others, with a Jump Rope for Heart event on February 16^th.
Students enjoyed some friendly competition while participating in a series of activities including jump rope, hula hoop, long jump, a relay race and an obstacle course.

A 20,000-gallon fire suppression tank was installed, filled with water and tested in January at Dutchess BOCES.

Congratulations are in order to our Dutchess BOCES students at the Career Technical Institute who scored top spots during the SkillsUSA Area IV Regional competition at Orange-Ulster BOCES on February 11.

Dutchess BOCES is giving students like Jaden Peguero the opportunity to study fashion design and merchandising before continuing their studies in college. The Career & Technical Institute at Dutchess BOCES started offering a two-year Fashion Design & Merchandising program to high school students in the 2022-2023 school year.
