Nursing assistant

A nurse assistant checks a patient's blood pressure
Prepare to be a nursing assistant who provides quality care in settings such as nursing homes and hospitals.  Develop basic nursing assistant skills through lectures, laboratory practice, and clinical experience. After 120 hours of classroom work, students will experience 30 hours of required clinical experience.  Upon successful completion, students must take a New York State Certification Exam. Excellent attendance is required.  Payment plan is available. 

PREREQUISITES:  A ninth grade or above reading level.  If you do not have previous college credits you will need to take a TABE Test Assessing Basic Education to determine your reading level. All students will meet with Adult Education Career Counselors for a one-to-one interview. 

REQUIREMENTS:  All students will be asked for an updated physical using the form included in acceptance paperwork on the first day of class. Students are expected to wear the uniform as indicated in the acceptance paperwork beginning on the first day of class.
