Regional Certification Office
The Dutchess BOCES Regional Certification Office serves as an extension of the New York State Education Department Office of Teaching Initiatives. The State Education Department has authorized this office to evaluate the credentials of applicants and recommend certification for Teaching Assistants and Coaches only. All other certification inquiries should be directed to the Office of Teaching Initiatives at (518) 474-3901.
Those living or working within the Dutchess BOCES service area can contact this office with certification questions during our regular business hours:
- Tuesdays: 12:30pm – 4pm
- Thursdays: 8am – 11:30am
If you are applying for certification as a Teaching Assistant or Coach, and you have documents ready for evaluation, please verify requirements and then send to the address below. Please be sure that all paperwork includes identifying information (Date of Birth and Last 4 digits of your Social Security number).

Please be advised that while this office offers assistance with evaluating applications and recommending certification, your certificate is ultimately your responsibility. Be sure to know when your current certification expires and what is required to obtain the next level of your certification.
