Security guard training (8 hour)

Security guard rides an escalator
This 8-hour training is a prerequisite for New York State Security Guard licensing. The Division of Criminal Justice has approved this course for students who are interested in working as security guards or acting in security functions. Students must pass the Security Guard test in order to receive a certificate of completion.
Topics include:

  • An introduction to the 1992 Security Guard Act
  • Conduct and ethics
  • The role of the security guard
  • Legal powers and limitations
  • Access control

All students MUST bring their Social Security card to the first class.
