A message from Sharon B. Phillips, New York State Library, Division of Library Development Summer Reading Program Coordinator

The New York State Library is pleased to continue partnering with NYLA/YSS and NYLA/SSL to provide the Explore New York recreational reading lists as part of Summer Reading at New York Libraries. We are requesting your input to help prepare the four reading lists for the upcoming 2017 Summer Reading season.  The Summer Reading at New York Libraries slogan for 2017 will be “Build a Better World.”

The 2016 lists, found on http://www.nysl.nysed.gov/libdev/summer/explore.htm will be updated and revised in all areas. Keeping the New York State Learning Standards in mind, we would like to equalize the balance of recreational nonfiction and fiction titles.

If you are interested in lending your expertise to the selection of books related to the history, culture, and diversity of New York State, please contact Chelsea Wallace at Chelsea.Wallace@nysed.gov  by October 7, 2016.

Please include complete contact information including your name, title, and email address. We will get back to you with all the information you need to get started so that the 2017 lists can be ready for posting and distribution by the end of January.

Thank you for your help with this effort and with promoting Summer Reading at New York Libraries.
