Auto Mechanics
Automotive Service Bay Technician [1 year; a.m.]
This one-year program is designed to be a hands-on training program that instructs students in the basic entry-level skills needed to gain employment in the automotive service industry. No previous experience is needed. Students must be able to work with hand and power tools. Students will learn and practice skills in tire service, exhaust service, fluid changing and exchanging, battery service, brakes, exterior maintenance, personal and shop safety. This program is designed for students pursuing other than a Regents diploma. The program can also be used as an exploratory or pathway course.
Advanced Auto Mechanic and Technician Training [1 year; a.m.]
This course covers the study of: electricity, electronics, onboard computers, OBD I and OBD II, transmissions, drive line and clutches, engine service [in car and out of car], and engine performance.
Basic Auto Technician A [1 year; a.m.]
This course covers the study of: under car service, tire, wheel, wheel alignment, brakes, belts, hoses, fluids, and New York State inspections.
Exploratory Automotive Trades [1 year; p.m.]
Students rotate through three shops providing them with exposure to different teachers, work, equipment, and tools.
