Salt Point Center (SPC) kindergartners closed out their school year in style, wearing handmade vests bearing the letters of the alphabet during the annual Kindergarten Moving Up Day and Alphabet Parade celebration on June 17.
Before the parade, SPC Principal Melissa Murphy congratulated the kindergartners on the progress they made this year, as well as teachers, staff and families for their support in these endeavors.
“Today’s a wonderful opportunity to recognize the growth and learning accomplishments of our students,” Murphy said. “Please join me in celebrating our kindergarten students as they parade through the alphabet and take the next exciting step in their educational adventure.”
The students, their teachers and aides paraded into the school’s gym, dancing to the Jackson Five’s “ABC” dressed in their alphabet vests, with some wearing black graduation hats. They later sang two alphabet-related songs, “ABC Song” and “See You Later, Alligator,” reiterating what they learned during the school year.
Before handing out certificates to their students, teachers Jen Florio, Trisha Pagliuca-Johnson, Tiffany Fielding-Clarke, Christie Campanaro, Nicole Pastre and Michelle MacDonald all shared how proud they were of their students for reaching this milestone.
Some older SPC students helped out by handing out programs to visiting families.
