Students in the Careers in Animal and Plant Sciences program climb trees before break as part of a class activity. The last school day before spring break was a busy one on the BOCES campus. At SPC, students celebrated the season by decorating cookies, creating spring-themed flip sticks, and having some fun with “floating Peeps.”
Resilience Academy’s March Madness basketball tournament tipped off with students warming up and showcasing their skills as staff thoughtfully created the bracket. Students brought strong competition to each matchup, facing off against their peers with enthusiasm. Even more impressive was the schoolwide spirit as students cheered one another on from start to finish. There was also a video game tournament.
The Security & Law AM class at CTI welcomed Dutchess County Sheriff Kirk Imperati, who outlined the essential steps to becoming a deputy. Students eagerly engaged him with questions about his career trajectory and field experiences. Encouraging the group to learn as much as they can, Imperati noted, “When you come in with a little bit of extra knowledge, it makes a world of difference and it’s going to make you stand out.”
Meanwhile, students in the Careers in Animal and Plant Sciences classes were outside learning to tie knots and climb trees as part of a class activity.
Dutchess BOCES also enthusiastically participated in a “Dress Down” day to support local charity, The Sparrow’s Nest as well. Funds raised will be used to offset the cost of preparing and delivering homemade meals to individuals and families facing a cancer diagnosis in Dutchess County and families with children 18 and under in the home in Ulster, Orange and Putnam counties.
