On Friday, Dutchess BOCES staff and students took time to honor World Down Syndrome Day, which was on Saturday, March 21. The day promotes inclusion and building a sense of belonging for all students.
At SPC, students and staff wore blue and yellow, the official colors for Down Syndrome, and teachers were encouraged to introduce their students to Adam Peterson’s “Be the Yellow” campaign to bring awareness of the importance of teaching children to be kind.
Students and staff at the Resilience Academy wore crazy socks, because the 21st chromosome, which makes those with Down Syndrome unique, resembles a mismatched sock. Thank you to everyone for showing your support!
