EMT I

Students in the EMT and Security and Law programs learn how to use an AED device.

Course overview: This course introduces students to the foundational emergency medical services knowledge and skills aligned with the New York State Certified First Responder curriculum. Students will gain CPR/AED certification and may qualify for the CFR exam upon completion. The curriculum includes: CPR/AED, scene safety and size up, primary and secondary assessment, vital signs, airway management, bleeding and shock, splinting and fracture management, burns and soft tissue injury, medical emergencies, OB/childbirth, EMS operations and legal and ethical responsbilities.
