Dutchess BOCES' new district superintendent is no stranger to the agency. Dr. Jodi DeLucia has been the deputy superintendent since returning to the agency in 2021. With more than 20 years of school administrator experience and a deep knowledge of the agency, she plans to hit the ground at full speed.
The Board of Trustees appointed DeLucia unanimously during a special meeting on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. It takes effect on March 6.
“We are thrilled to have Dr. Jodi DeLucia as our next district superintendent,” Board President Ralph Chiumento, Jr., said. “We expect she will keep us moving forward and engaged with the state’s new initiatives and come up with new programs and alliances for us.”
DeLucia has worked previously as assistant superintendent at Onteora Central School District, director of educational resources at Dutchess BOCES and has been a physics teacher, teaching assistant and technology integration specialist.
Priorities in her new role include staffing, strategic planning, branding and facilities.
“One of the first things we need to work on is evaluating systems and structures currently in place. It is essential that we develop opportunities to bring our stakeholders together and give them voice. We need to truly work together with all stakeholders in order to effectively move forward into our next chapter of innovation, growth, and partnership,” she said.
She looks forward to BOCES expanding opportunities for students in Dutchess County including the development of pre-K services, expanded therapeutic services for students with disabilities, increased and expanded career and technical course offerings, and expanded opportunities with our industry partners.
“Being collaborative, student-centered and partnering will provide a gateway to creating expanded opportunities for all learners from pre-K to career. I know with dedicated focus, we will continue to see this positive impact on students, staff and the broader community for years to come,” she said.
DeLucia believes the agency’s greatest strengths are in its people, its partners, and the diversity of programming.
One thing she would like people to know about her is that she is a dedicated and transparent leader. “Working for this agency is my passion,” she said, adding, “I will work tirelessly on behalf of the agency, our staff and the students we serve.”
When DeLucia isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two 10-year-old children. They enjoy spending time outdoors, cooking, visiting family, and travel.
A meet and greet reception will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at the Dutchess BOCES conference center, 5 BOCES Road. If you would like to attend, please register at https://forms.gle/Eu8x22xWFzRBzKUG7.
