Resilience Academy carolers sang and danced their way through the halls Friday, spreading holiday cheer before the winter break.
They gathered in the Learning Commons to rehearse the five songs they planned to sing: “Frosty the Snowman,” “Jingle Bells,” “Little Drummer Boy,” “We Wish you a Merry Christmas” (which music teacher Angela Crisci modified, inserting verses referencing Hanukkah and Kwanzaa) and “Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel.”
Their first stop was a performance for visiting superintendents who were attending a meeting at the Dutchess BOCES Conference Center.
Caroler and RA student Mia Fountain said she was “very excited” to sing for everyone. She decided to join in the caroling because “It is a happy day and I wanted to be around all the people.”
From the superintendents’ meeting, the group moved to the RA kitchen, where they sang for the staff members who feed them each school day.
Then it was into the halls, where the singing prompted many teachers, staff and students to come out of class and into the halls to enjoy a little merriment. Some even joined in the singing.
Fountain said “Jingle Bells,” was her favorite selection. It was the last song they sang in the main lobby and, according to Crisci, who arranged and conducted the group, a favorite among all the carolers.
