The Thanksgiving tables were full in the Salt Point Center gym today for the annual Thanksgiving Lunch.
Students and staff sat together at tables adorned with vibrant colored tablecloths as some staff members served meals prepared by the food services team.
On the menu were turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, corn, stuffing, cranberry sauce and cornbread. The many varied desserts had a table all their own, which students were escorted to so they could choose their favorite.
Principal Melissa Murphy said the event has happened for at least five years.
“The kids absolutely love it,” she said, adding that the meal takes a long time to prepare but is eaten in just a few minutes.
Asked what he liked most about the meal, student Tre Laureno said, “My favorite part is the desserts,” while giving a thumbs up at the table
Classmate Makayla Smith chose mashed potatoes as her favorite part while another student, Bianca Uyaguari said the main course, turkey, was her favorite.
The event brings everyone at SPC together.
Ryan Brigante, a crisis teaching assistant, said he likes “the sense of community” the event creates.
