The Dutchess BOCES Board has spent time carefully reviewing options available to fill the vacancy in the Office of the District Superintendent. Our Board has attained the assistance of Dr. David O’Rourke, District Superintendent from the Erie 2 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES, who serves as Chair of the District Superintendents of New York State, and Dr. Jonah Schenker, District Superintendent at the Ulster BOCES, to serve as search consultants to the Board as we seek to hire an outstanding candidate as our next District Superintendent. Use this Thought Exchange survey link to provide input.
It is the responsibility of a BOCES Board to recommend a District Superintendent candidate to the NYS Commissioner of Education, and also a statutory responsibility of the Board to appoint a District Superintendent according to her order. The Commissioner of Education has encouraged the Board to select a candidate who best meets the needs of our Dutchess BOCES community.
In addition, our Board is committed to seeking input from stakeholders as we move forward with this search. As a first step, we ask our component district partners, their boards and administration, our parents and students, and our BOCES faculty and staff for their perspective about what they feel the Board should know as we begin this search.
This Thought Exchange survey link is for all BOCES community members (component district trustees, administrators, faculty, and staff as well as Dutchess BOCES faculty, staff, parents, and students) to provide input on our search for a new District Superintendent.
The Thought Exchange survey link will be available until July 30, 2024. This form of survey is very efficient and takes little time. There may be additional opportunities for stakeholders to participate in the coming months. Please stay tuned for updates.
