The Dutchess BOCES Adult Learning Institute (ALI) has won the BEST of the Hudson Valley award for “best educational programs for adults.”
“This award is especially meaningful to us since it is the result of the public voting,” said Administrator Elizabeth Hayter. “Adult education is a collaborative venture that begins with getting students in seats and ends with us making sure adults successfully learn our top-notch curriculum. Our primary goal is to provide opportunities for adults in our community.”
ALI will be featured in the October issue of Hudson Valley Magazine. Hayter will accept a plaque on October 14 at a recognition event in Poughkeepsie. Annually, the magazine tallies votes from residents of the Hudson Valley to determine the winners of dozens of categories including restaurants, hairstylists, professionals, and the business community
“I am very proud of the work that we do and the spirit with which we do it,” said Judith Lopez, adult education counselor. “Our students mean the world to us and we do our best to help them succeed.”
Hayter applauds the ALI staff. “We are a small but very committed staff and always put our adult students first,” she said. “This past 18 months has been very hard on all of us, but they persisted and continue to make a difference in lives. I thank them all for what they have done and what I know they will continue to do.”
