Dutchess BOCES has appointed a new deputy superintendent and named an interim principal for the 2021-22 school year.
Dr. Jodi DeLucia, who spent sixteen years in Dutchess BOCES’ Educational Resources Division including time as the director, is returning as the next Deputy Superintendent. She will begin on July 19, after Cora Stempel’s retirement. She is currently the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for the Onteora Central School District in Boiceville.
“Dr. DeLucia’s instructional knowledge, leadership, BOCES experience, and her passion for education uniquely qualify her for the vital role of Deputy Superintendent,” said District Superintendent Dr. Richard Hooley. “We are so pleased she will be returning to Dutchess BOCES.”
Nicholas Millas will serve as interim principal for the Career and Technical Institute for the 2021-2022 school year. He has been principal for a middle school in the Monticello Central School District and principal for secondary special and alternative education at Sullivan County BOCES. He begins July 1, after the retirement of Mitchell Shron.
Hooley, who is retiring August 31, said the position is an interim position because senior staff believes it is appropriate for the new leadership team have input into the permanent decision, particularly with the capital project bringing both secondary schools to one location on the Salt Point Campus.
Both Delucia and Millas will spend days working with Dutchess BOCES staff before they officially begin their new positions to help ensure smooth transitions.
Dr. Charles Khoury, District Superintendent of Ulster BOCES, was selected by the New York State Education Department to lead the search and selection process for Hooley’s replacement. The process is in its early stages.
