Since Dutchess BOCES closed all buildings on Tuesday, March 17, custodial and maintenance staff have been diligently working to clean the buildings and prepare them for the eventual return of staff and students.

“We have completed Salt Point Center, the Administration Building, the Adult Learning Institute and will be done with the Career and Technical Institute today,” said Director of Facilities & Operations Cole Bender on Monday.  “We will be off to the Alternative High School at BETA tomorrow.”

Dutchess BOCES provides personal protective equipment for all workers and employees are practicing personal spacing as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“This was a comprehensive deep cleaning and we were particularly intensive with the classrooms at SPC,” said Bender. “We are replacing all the mini blinds in SPC because of the age and condition of them. All glass was cleaned.”

Dutchess BOCES is using a product called TB-Cide Quate to sanitize all hard surfaces.  This product is excellent in killing viruses such as COVID-19 and is registered with the Environmental Protection Agency, according to Bender.

“Our custodians and maintenance workers have been working hard to make sure that when staff returns they can all feel safe,” said Bender.
