Cool Tools for Schools 2018-2019

This instructed online learning opportunity will help school librarians keep up with a wide range of web-based services and networking tools, and explore how they can be used in a K-12 school library setting.

Credo Source: Building Information Skills for Lifelong Success

Our high school librarians, classroom teachers and students now have access to Credo Source, a bundle of Credo’s Source Reference platform and Source Modules. On the reference platform, you have access to our “Student Core” collection of over 400 full-text reference titles, as well as thousands of images and videos. From here, you can access the Source Modules, which includes 30+ high-quality instructional videos and tutorials covering a wide range of research topics including evaluating sources, plagiarism, and more.
Mock Caldecott & Newbery Book Awards

On Monday, January 28, 2019, the American Library Association will announce their book awards for the best literature for children and young adults. Our goal for the Dutchess School Library System Mock Book Awards day is to share and discuss potentially award-winning books published in the past year. In preparation, attendees will pre-read well-reviewed titles from 2018. Breakout groups will consider the mock nominees and finally vote for their choices for the Newbery Award (elementary) and Caldecott Award (picture books).
