Re-opening picture

Dutchess BOCES will re-open schools in September on a regular schedule, five days a week. Staff will report for a Superintendent’s Conference Day on September 8 and students begin the next day. The complete reopening plan (updated 10/8/21) can be found HERE.

In accordance with the Education Commissioner's Determination, issued pursuant to 10 NYCRR 2.60, any person over the age of 2 (including all students, personnel, teachers, administrators, contractors, and visitors) must wear masks at all times indoors in P-12 school buildings, regardless of vaccination status. The Daily COVID Questionnaire, a valuable tool put in place last year, will also be required. Enhanced cleaning procedures will continue.

“We know that we have to remain flexible as we approach this school year,” said DeLucia. “We are committed to keeping our students and staff safe while returning to full-time, in-person learning.” She added that updates will be shared with families and staff, as needed, via a variety of communication methods including the Dutchess BOCES website, social media, the Communicator newsletter, and School Messenger.

“We are following, the CDC’s recommendation that children should return to full-time, in-person learning. Access to in-person instruction is critical for our students,” said DeLucia. “We have multi-layered prevention strategies in place and are ready to quickly respond to new concerns and developments.”
