Updated 1-12-2022 Recent updates to the guidance surrounding the need for people with COVID-19, and to those who have come in close contact with a person with COVID-19, now allow for shorter isolation and quarantine times in many instances. Please read the latest letter from Deputy Superintendent Jodi Delucia for more information or click the 'Read More' button.

Dutchess BOCES is committed to providing in-person instruction to students in a safe environment.  Our Reopening Plan and all subsequent decisions were made with a focus on student and staff well-being during the pandemic.

Recent updates to the guidance surrounding the need for people with COVID-19, and to those who have come in close contact with a person with COVID-19, now allow for shorter isolation and quarantine times in many instances.

These changes, along with the ability to “test to stay” should make it easier to have more students and staff in school for in person learning.

The changes are detailed in this January 12, 2022 letter from Deputy Superintendent Jodi Delucia.

If parents wish to opt in their unvaccinated children to Test to Stay (TTS), they may fill out the TTS form or by clicking the button just below the photo gallery on our home page.  This is a one-time only requirement.

Please check back frequently as guidance/decisions are subject to change.

Updated COVID Protocols – 12-7-2021

All COVID decisions made at Dutchess BOCES take into consideration many factors, including mandates, food insecurities, student safety, wellness, and the high needs of the Agency’s student population. As a BOCES, we share the common belief that the best place for our students is here, in school, with us.

INCREASED COVID PROTOCOLS

In light of the uptick in cases in the county and our buildings, we will be reinstituting tighter COVID protocols effective immediately.  They will remain in effect until at least January 14, 2022.

In addition to maintaining mask mandates, social distancing, and enhanced hygiene and cleaning protocols BOCES will:

  • Limit all building visitation [building and program administrators will make determinations regarding visitation based on conversation with the COVID Coordinator];
  • Pause all guest speakers;
  • Pause all field trips (this does not include work based learning and clinical placements);
  • Work with components and partners to schedule student observations and evaluations strategically;
  • Limit congregating to a maximum of four individuals (including meals). Please note that masks must be worn at ALL times except while actively eating and 6 foot social distancing for adults MUST be maintained.

Effective immediately, staff members assigned to multiple locations will be allowed to travel between buildings.

MONITORING AND SCREENING

Employees are encouraged to monitor their health, and to stay home if any symptoms are present.  Those who have symptoms are required to either provide a doctor’s note clearing a return to work, or a negative COVID test. BOCES will continue to offer Test to Stay screening.  This does not take the place of recommendations by medical professional.

All individuals entering a Dutchess BOCES building must wear a mask.  Only visitors/vendors will be required to fill out the Daily COVID Questionnaire (link is external)

Staff and students have the responsibility to assess their wellness at home each day.  Anyone who feels unwell, has possible COVID symptoms, has been a direct contact to a person with COVID, or has tested positive for COVID, must stay home and contact their supervisor or school office.
